about

This is a plainchant melody which first appeared
in print in 1582, alongside the words we use in this recording, in the Finnish collection of Latin songs Piae Cantiones; it is, however, thought
to have developed for up to five centuries prior to that first edition. The words celebrate the body and blood of Christ as they are represented by the bread and wine of the sacrament.
